First conceived 10 years ago, I See With My Eyes Closed is the fulfillment of a
long-held dream between Birmingham Contemporary Music Group
and Stan's Cafe, of
creating a piece that's not quite
theatre and not a straight-forward concert.
BCMG, world renowned for performing and commissioning exciting new music, has,
in talented composer Michael Wolters, found a match for Stan's Cafe. Full of playful humour,
Michael's seductive new piece I See With My Eyes Closed is premiered alongside Igor Stravinsky's
The Soldier's Tale Suite and Richard Causton's Rituals of Hunting and Blooding.
"Going to a concert is always better than we expect it to be. We don't go often enough.
The music is always better live than on the CD and there's always so much more going on
than the music. The BCMG players are looking beautiful tonight and are under the no-nonsense
baton of Richard Baker, so please, don't be late!" Stan's Cafe
Performed by Marie-Christine Zupancic, Jillian Allan, Margaret Cookhorn,
