Deaths due to Conflict in Darfur, Sudan since 2003: 200,000

This has just been verified as a lowest estimate for the genocide in this region. Apparently George Clooney recently made a passionate speech demanding UN intervention. A tricky one - Sudan regected a 20,000 strong UN force on the grounds that it was an attack on a sovereignty.
