Often these age statistics are a little dull but I was amazed and stragely delighted by the news that 1 in 7 people in Germany is a woman over 60. This is due to a combination of a low birth rate and a legacy of the Second World War which has led to women significantly outnumbering men in that generation (1 in 10 Germans is a man over 60).

I regularly hear that we live in a young person's world, but maybe this is not true after all.
