Chosen: I work in the auto industry. Vehicle statistics amaze me. They are so staggering that 0.01% changes can impact millions upon millions of dollars, thousands of jobs, and the U.S. economy as a whole. Vehicles are entrenched in our society, and as a nation we are highly dependent on the auto industry.

Stan's Cafe said...: Thank you David, that's a great statistic, not least as we are currently in Los Angeles, a city that seems entirely predicated on the car. We may well put it in the show today.

To convert your statistic into one we can use we have made the assumption that people only buy one new car each year. Whilst this won't always be the case we are happy that these exceptions wont alter this statistic's order of magnitude – it's going to be a big pile!; 2:23 PM
