Imagine what could happen in your school, with your students, staff and parents, if you had a theatre company on call, working with you for a whole academic year. Would you stage a mega-production or would your students create a festival of their own short plays? Would your staff choose to have actors working with them in class or a director collaborating with them planning projects and lessons? Would these partners help you get more out of Assemblies / Open Evenings / Parents Evenings / Sports Days or feed more directly into the school’s academic achievement? Now is the chance to find out.

Stan’s Cafe is looking for a partner school for 2012/13

Stan’s Cafe devises and tours exciting new theatre around the world. Its first education project was commissioned a year after its first professional theatre production and since then these twin elements of the company’s work have developed in parallel, informing and inspiring each other.

Exploring this website will reveal the broad diversity of Stan’s Cafe’s artistic output, at home, abroad, on tour, in special events, with ground breaking shows, adventures in other media, playful experiments, documentary projects and spectacular one-offs. The site also holds lots of information about the company’s work with students and teachers in Infant, Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools as well as Pupil Referral Units, Special Schools and Universities.

Stan’s Cafe loves working in schools where they:
• Are asked to create a great positive impact on the school.
• Can work closely with teachers and develop a rapport with them.
• Get to know students and see them develop new skills and confidence.

More education projects we have enjoyed include:
Staging a banquet cooked by Year 6 / Making a stop-frame animation about Hydrocarbons with Year 10 / Running Teacher Training Days / Building Fruit and Veg Cities with Year 4 / Mounting a Carnival Parade with Years R – 2 / Blowing up a school with Year 7 (and rearranging their canteen)

If you believe your school could benefit from an extended collaboration with Stan’s Cafe, in which the company become members of the school community for an academic year then please consider applying to become our 2012/13 Partner School.

We are open to approaches from any form of state school.

The 2012/13 Partner School will:
• be located in or close to Birmingham.
• have a strong vision for how the collaboration could enrich school life.
• be open to the collaboration evolving in unexpected directions.
• commit a member of senior management to driving the collaboration in school.
• have funds for teacher cover and towards material costs.
