We spent ten days at the beginning of June in the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg, birthplace of a certain composer called Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. We were performing Of All The People In All The World as part of the Sommerszene 2018, International Performing Arts Festival. The festival brought theatre, performance and dance pieces from across the world to the city, in a concentrated 12 day hit of artistic activity.
The setting for Of All The People In All The World was the Kollegienkirche, a beautiful baroque church, right in the heart of the old city, and opposite the back door of Mozart's birthplace (the ground floor of which is now a Spar shop – albeit a posh one). Being on the tourist trail the church attracted hundreds of visitors a day and this, combined with festival visitors, meant that we were always busy. Over the course of our stay around 7,000 people saw the show and with a constant flow of international visitors, we spread our statistical net wide to try to reflect the cosmopolitan nature of the audience.
